Conjugate Method training is going to increase the quality of life for your clients because no matter what, I want you guys to understand that I do want your lifts to go through the roof. I want your performance to go through the roof. But ultimately 100 percent what we’re here for is one thing – improved quality of life, for yourself, for the people in your gym.
That’s what we’re here for. For someone like my wife if she breaks a world record, that improves her quality of life. That’s what she enjoys to do. Nicole if she wins the games. That’s going to make her happy, right? That’s going to be quality of life for her. You might have someone who came out of the military who has a severe time and hard time just walking because of some damage they’ve taken while in the military.
You can give them that capability back. That’s massive. That’s life changing, right? So don’t ever underestimate what you can potentially do with somebody. You have no clue when someone walks in the door how much you can change their lives.
Sometimes we don’t find out until later, until after something. You don’t even realize how much they changed their life, what kind of effect you can have on somebody.
So keep it in mind when you’re training and when we’re looking at this system and we have people like I said in a gym that are ready to go, hardcore isn’t ready to go all the time. Hardcore is knowing when to stop and when to back off.
Because essentially people who love to work out, love to train, who love to compete, we already know where you want to be. You want to be evolving yourself, pushing yourself. That’s not the hard part. The hard part for you is to call it stop on a day because it’s just not the right day for you to keep going. OK?
Laura was getting ready for a meet. It was probably about a year and a half ago and we do something called “circa max” and whatever your number comes up to on circa max, we know exactly what you’re going to squat in competition. We’ve been doing this since the late 80s and it has never been wrong. At Westside every person who walks through the door does this before a meet and what they hit on your circa max, gives them their competition squat. Which is an awesome thing.
So Laura is working out one day. She’s like 75 pounds away from hitting a PR and she’s sitting there and she’s just feeling horrible. She has the flu and one of her training partners is like, “You can hit a PR today. I know you feel bad but hang in there. You can hit a PR today,” and she says, “No, I’m calling it right here.” Her partner is trying to help her out. She says, “No, you can hit a PR today. I know you can.” Laura says, “Yeah, I know I can too.” But she’s like, “I have a choice. I can hit a PR today here or in a few weeks I can break a world record in a meet. I can’t do both right now.”
So she says, “I’m OK. I will call it here and I will get a world record,” and she did. She got a world record a few weeks later. Now, that’s hardcore because she didn’t need that number to have confidence. A lot of times people need to hit a number to believe they can do something down the road.
This training is going to be different. It’s going to show you that you don’t need that type of thing to build confidence. This training will build confidence for you as you go.
A good training program should not only elicit a response out of the body that you’re looking for. It should also build you psychologically. So it should build you psychologically and physically. This training program will do that.
Realize if you want to have results better than what the majorities are doing, you have to do something different. So we can’t do the same things and expect different results. So if you get a little stressed that there’s going to be a major change in the way you train if you would do this, it’s OK. Don’t be.
Like I said, realize if you train the same way everyone else trains, the only way you’re going to be better is if you have better genetics. I don’t want to rely on this… “I have better genetics.” OK? I don’t want to rely on the chance that “Everybody who comes through my door has better genetics.”
So if it was about numbers, we’re going to lose. Westside first started in a garage and when we got there, it was a 1000-square-foot facility and now it’s a 2000-square-foot facility.
Not the biggest gym in the world, right? There’s no sign on the door and it’s tuck away in a warehouse like this and you wouldn’t know it’s there unless someone told you it was there. So what are the odds that all the strongest people in the world are going to walk through the door there?
Probably not going to happen unless you’re producing. You’re doing something different. I always try to tell people it’s funny because Louie has had six all time world record holders out of his neighborhood, people in his neighborhood that were not power lifters before they met Louie and I always tell people it’s not luck that the best ranked coach in the world ended up in the strongest neighborhood in the world. He built it and the point is that I’m telling you guys is that it’s not genetics. We build our athletes.
So when we’re going over the system, I want you guys to understand that and keep that in mind. I want you to eliminate any ideas of which you think that you’re capable of or your clients are capable of. Until you’ve seen this stuff in action it will blow your mind and it’s still to me like that’s what keep me excited and keep going that you see these massive gains out of people.
You will be surprised kind of what can happen with your clients. So keep a very open mind to the type of gains that we can have with our training system.
