The thing we need to at look when evolving as a coach, we want to commit to a training method that makes you want to become a student of your sport (conjugate training)…
….in anything you do.
This really helps you in many capacities.
First, it will help you learn who to surround yourself with, which is going to be key.
It’s also going to teach you what people did in the past, what worked, and what didn’t work.
How was the sport or how was the training evolved?
How can I say I came up with the latest and greatest thing when it has only been around for a year or two. “I’ve only worked with a limited amount of people?”In contrast, the things that conjugate sequence system pulls from are proven in physics, math, and biomechanics.
If you’re serious about using a program that delivers real results, why would you even think about following a program that wasn’t backed by research and tested by world-class professionals in the field? The best methods in sports and strength training are time-tested and thoroughly studied.
As you may know, the history of Westside Barbell Conjugate Method® began with powerlifter and strength coach Louie Simmons, who had a strong belief in educating himself about his sport.Throughout the years, Louie Simmons has dedicated himself to acquiring as much knowledge as he can about strength training.
The Conjugate Method is based on very strong scientific research and knowledge on the background of training, and we’ve stuck with it because it was developed by people who were more intelligent than us. This method was created and built upon by teams of scientists who spent their entire life on this work.
Here’s the deal…
I train the conjugate sequence system for a reason;
I believe it to be optimal because, when I look at any other strength training program, I find faults in it that I can see improvements that we already do at Conjugate Fitness. If I found a training system that was better…
…I would already be doing it.
Now, I think that the popularity of 5-3-1 Method came around because…
…many people believe it is easier to implement or a shortcut to success. I don’t believe it to be the most optimal training method for an athlete or for someone who wants to get in shape.
Will it produce results?
Yes, it will produce results.
I just believe that we can be optimal, be better, by doing this training system.
Now, there’re things about 5-3-1 Method that I wouldn’t recommend, but I guess the biggest reason I see people using this training method and saying…
“Well, I get confused about the conjugate sequence system, so I train 5-3-1 Method because it is easier.”
For Example, if you had a child in school and their teacher said they didn’t teach them the most optimal way to learn math, they just taught them the easy way that would get them by for right now…
…you wouldn’t be too thrilled about that.
So what I suggest since this is the optimal way to train, why don’t we train people correctly from the start. If people believe it takes a long time to learn…
…it’s better to start sooner than later, RIGHT?
At the same time, the conjugate sequence system seems overwhelming at first, but once you start getting the grasp of it…
…you realize it’s the easiest training method out there.
All you do is correct weaknesses. You identify a weakness or a problem with an athlete and you…
…you fix it.
It’s real simple.
Once you learn this training system, you’ll have the tools to correct any problem that you have. So while I know that you’re not seeing people break world records using the 5-3-1 method. It’s not pushing the spectrum in sports or longevity.
I’m sure it’s ahead of a lot of other training programs out there, but if it’s not the best way to train an individual, why would you even train in that matter ever.
It’s just not optimal for what we do.
It’s not optimal for results.
If it was, I’d be doing it.
